1. What does resetting the workspace do?
Resetting the workspace on illustrator resets all of the tools and their locations and the workspace to default. It removes all the changes you may have perviously made while working on a previous project, it returns things to where they originally belong and this makes it easier to navigate illustrator while doing in class activities and while following along during lessons.
2. What does the small triangle next to some of the tools in the toolbar mean?
The small triangle represents a drop down menu, it tells you that there are multiple sub-tools related to the tool that is on the toolbar.
3. What is the difference between the select tool and the direct select tool?
The select tool can only move whole shapes and change the size of a shape as a whole, whereas the sub-selection tool is used for modifying a shape, the sub-selection tool can modify the path, anchor points, or bezier lines in a shape.
4.How are the shape builder tool and the pathfinder palette related?
The shape-builder tool and pathfinder both can do some of the same things, they can both add and subtract areas of overlapping shapes.
5. What is the constrain proportions keyboard modifier key?
The keyboard modifying key for constraining proportions is, holding the Shift key while changing the size of the shape, this will keep it proportionate.
6. What is the duplicate keyboard modifier key?
To duplicate a shape or group of shapes, select what you want duplicated with the selection tool (V), and then hold Option while moving the shape, then you will have 2 of the same shapes.
7. What is an anchor point?
An anchor point is a point on the path of a shape that control the direction of a path and the overall shape of an object.
